Catering

Yes, we cater!

"I have eaten here personally multiple times but recently utilized the catering service. The food was outstanding as well as the service.  Everyone in attendance gave rave reviews about the food.  I will definitely be using this catering service again!" -- Rebekah

Everything on our menu is available for catering.  But we are not limited by the menu you see.   We can easily add grilled items like steaks, chops, seafood, veggies, sides, grilled corn, and any other items you might desire.  Everybody likes our home-made cookies, cakes, pies and cobblers.  Chocolate covered strawberries?  Sure!  Homestead Creamery Ice Cream?  Of course!   Let your imagination run wild!!

We regularly cater picnics, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, company parties, meetings, training sessions, luncheons, and every other imaginable event.  We provide a range of services from bare bones "you pick it up at the Pig Shack" to "we come over and set up, cook on site, serve, and clean-up."  The choice is up to you.

We are equipped and ready to cater groups from 5 to 5 thousand.  (Just give us a few days notice if your numbers are that large).

Call Kellen today at (304) 645-4BBQ to discuss your desired menu and level of service, your needs, your dreams, and your budget.  We can help you prepare a meal that will make your guests holler with delight, without breaking your bank account.

Our calendar does tend to fill up early, though, so please call as soon as you can to start the discussion process.  We do require a deposit of 50% in order to reserve a date on our calendar.

We look forward to making your party or other event stress free, while making you feel proud of the way you take care of your guests!

Mike and Kellen

We are Mike and Kellen, life-partners and co-owners of When Pigs Fly Barbeque, LLC, of Fairlea, West Virginia.

We began in the barbeque business during the winter of 2005-2006.  Mike got a little barrel  smoker and learned to smoke meat, while Kellen worked on perfecting our recipes for sauces and rubs. By February, we were ready to begin construction on our trailer, which we eventually began to call the Pig Shack.  Starting that month, Mike and his son Josh set about converting a flatbed farm trailer into a mobile barbeque unit.  After several adventures, and with the checking account overdrawn, we set up on U.S. 219 North in Lewisburg, West Virginia, on April 1, 2006.  Broke, scared, and full of hope.

We were gratified to learn that people really liked our food from Day One.  They just kept on coming, and we just kept on cooking.  Ultimately, we started doing fairs and festivals as far north as Weirton, West Virginia, and as far south as Augusta, Georgia.   By 2012, we were doing about 14 festivals a year.

People were always after us to start a restaurant, but we consistently declined, feeling that a fixed location would just present too darned much work!

But, in the fall of 2012, we noticed our current location was available, and realized that it would make the perfect next step in the evolution of the Pig Shack.   We talked to the landlord, who enthusiastically signed on, and by November 15, 2012, we were in the restaurant business.

We have a lot more space to keep track of, as well as several employees to watch over, but one thing has never changed.  We still cook our authentic southern-style pulled pork, chicken and ribs in the same old cooker on the same old trailer.  It's just parked out back, now.   And, we have added a salad bar, ice cream, and a number of new side items, fountain soda, beer and wine, but we still have all of our basics, and we still cook them in the old way.

Everything is authentic.  Everything is home made.  Nothing is poured out of a bucket.  Our customers like it that way, and so do we.

So, thanks for your  loyalty and support over the years.  Without you, the customer, we wouldn't have been able to embark on this new adventure, with the new, bigger Pig Shack.  And, more recently, we wouldn't be expanding our seating and offering a party room.

So, come by and see us for a little bit of Love at First Bite!  When Pigs Fly Real Pit Barbeque.  We honestly think it is the best barbeque in West Virginia and, so far, nobody has offered us any kind of serious argument on that point.

See ya at the Pig Shack!
